* 2 cloves garlic&lt;br /&gt;
* 4-6 green Thai, serrano, or cayenne chilies&lt;br /&gt;
* 2 Tablespoons ground coriander&lt;br /&gt;
* 1.5 Tablespoons salt&lt;br /&gt;
* 1 teaspoon turmeric&lt;br /&gt;
* 1 teaspoon ground cumin&lt;br /&gt;
* 1 Tablespoon brown sugar&lt;br /&gt;
* 9 cups water&lt;br /&gt;
* 1 can coconut milk&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
# Grind tomatoes, onion, ginger, garlic, and chilies in a food processor.&lt;br /&gt;
# Add this mixture to the slow cooker along with the coriander, salt, turmeric, ground cumin, brown sugar, and water.  Add black-eyed peas.&lt;br /&gt;
# Cook on high for 7 hours.&lt;br /&gt;
# Add coconut milk 10 minutes before the cooking time ends.&lt;br /&gt;
